How to Find Clients in Facebook Groups

Did you know that Facebook is a goldmine for finding clients if you are a freelancer, social media manager, VA, coach or a consultant?

Here’s why: business owners are in Facebook looking to hire people to help grow their business. And it’s not just for B2B services. If you are a life coach or a non-business coach you can still find clients there who need help.

So in this article, I’m going to break down the exact strategy that is working to find clients in Facebook groups.

I also made a video about it which you can watch here.

Find Facebook Groups for Your Niche

The first step in this process is to find Facebook groups that are in your niche. There are different groups that cater to specific industries, people who fit a specific demographic or lifestyle.

For example if you are trying to sell your services to eCommerce or Amazon FBA sellers, there are Facebook groups just for that.

If you are selling your services to real estate agents, then there are also groups just for that niche.

A great way to find a niche group is to go into Facebook search and type in a phrase related to your niche.

There are niche groups on topics like:

  • Real estate

  • Finance

  • eCommerce

  • Stay at home moms

  • Etsy sellers

  • Hobbies

  • Travel groups

  • Online business

  • ….and many more

Make a list of the groups that you think your ideal client may be hanging out in and then start searching for this in the search bar of the group section from your profile.

Three Ways to Find Clients In Facebook Groups

There are three main ways that you can use to get clients in group and they are:

  1. Searching for job postings or people looking to hire help

  2. Sharing value and having clients come to you

  3. Start your own Facebook group

I will explain each method below and how you can start using these strategies in your own business.

Method 1:  Search for “Job” postings in groups.

Now when I say the word “job” posting this isn’t for a W2 employee job. People are usually hiring for freelancers, contractors or agencies to help them with their business.

This works well if you offer freelance services, marketing, social media, bookkeeping, virtual assistant services, graphic design, web design, etc.

Business owners will usually make a post saying that they need help with a specific thing in their business and they want to hire someone.

In fact, some of my clients and students have grow their businesses to six figures just responding to these posts in groups.

What I recommend you do is respond in the comments to the post. Then also send the person a private message saying that you saw their post in the group and wanted to connect with them to let them know about your services (related to their post).

Then try to setup a “discovery call” (which is really just a sales call) where you can ask them questions about what they are struggling with and then pitch your services to them.

I would also try to look at their Facebook profile and see if they left a link to their website and then go to their website and contact them directly.

Now if you are in a group that has thousands of members, you may see a lot of other people commenting on the job post as well.

Don’t let this discourage you from applying. Many times these people don’t follow up or maybe they aren’t really professional.

Getting clients is a numbers game and you need to be having sales calls on a regular basis.

So make sure you are responding to as many of these posts as you can as long as they are related to the services you actually provide.

Method 2: Sharing Value in Facebook Groups

With this method, you can share value in Facebook groups by posting tips, strategies, things you have learned related to your niche and just being helpful.

When someone posts a question in a group, respond in the comments and be helpful.

I recommend sending friend requests to members in the group who would be your ideal client.

The reason this works is because when someone is your Facebook friend and you post in a group, they will see your post if they are also a member of the group.

This will help you increase engagement.

When you post a tip or strategy, look to see the people who are commenting and send them a friend request.

Think about some of the things your ideal client is struggling with and provide tips on how to overcome that challenge. This allows people in the group to see you as an expert or an authority.

You can also conduct a poll or survey in a Facebook group as well.

One thing you should be careful about is posting links to your website directly in a Facebook group as it may go against the rules of the group. So make sure you read the group rules or ask the Admin of the group for permission to do that.

Method 3: Start Your Own Facebook Group

Another method is to start your own Facebook group where you are the Admin and you control the content and managing the entire group.

I personally have grown my own consulting and coaching business through my own Facebook group that grew to 17,000 members. (So I have a lot of experience here).

The way you find clients using this method is to go live in your group, share value or do webinars and challenges.

Towards the end of your webinar or challenge, make a call to action to book a call with you so that you can sell your services.

I explain this entire process in my Youtube video which you can watch here.

In Conclusion

Facebook groups are still a great way to find clients and when done right can even allow you to create a thriving service based business.

The key to making this work is to be consistent, join groups in your niche and engage within the group.
