How to Earn More and Work Less - Part 2

In the last blog post related to this topic, I talked about how outsourcing and growing a team is the key to growing your own service based business.

You can easily create your own digital agency or consultancy company by working with freelancers to help you get your client work done.

Building your own virtual team of freelancers is how you can scale your business, take on more clients and really become a real business.

It's how you can go from a freelancer to an agency.

You don't need to hire a lot of people. You can just have one or two people on your team. Or you can have a team of ten people.

It's totally up to you on how big you want your team to grow and your company.

Hiring Freelancers

There are a ton of people who are working from home as freelancers. Thanks to the technology available, its also really easy to find people who can help you with projects.

The best thing to do is to identify what projects you need help with.

Outsourcing can really help you when you aren't good at a particular thing, but you want to provide this skill set to your clients.

Start by browsing freelance job board sites like Upwork and Fiverr.

I personally like Fiverr for very specific work such as graphic design. The great thing about Fiverr is that the service providers are very specific about what work they will do.

Upwork is also a great place to find people to work with on an ongoing basis.

There are also plenty of Facebook groups for freelancers and consultants.

You can post a job description of what you are looking for there as well.

When posting in Facebook groups, I highly recommend that you create a very clear list of tasks that you need help with and the type of person you want to work with.

Job Descriptions and Agreements

Create a job description that lists the requirements for the role.

Remember, that you are hiring another business owner. This person doesn't have to be your employee (unless you want to deal with the administrative side and you have the budget to hire an employee).

You can start with hiring an independent freelancers. You might also want to have them sign an independent contractor agreement that states the terms of your relationship.

You can find these agreements on websites like and LegalZoom.

Note: Typically when hiring on Fiverr and Upwork, these contracts aren't neede since you are going through their platform.

Once you have someone helping you, there will be more free time for you to start working on getting more clients.

Make yourself visible by promoting your brand on social media and building your email list.

As you build up a team, you will need to get a steady stream of clients to keep revenue coming in the door.

Scaling Your Company

As you take on more clients, you can add other team members to help you.

This is where you need good project management skills. You will have to manage both your clients and your team.

There are lots of free tools to help you manage your business like Trello and Asana.

Get familiar with using these tools to manage your client work each month.
